Privacy Policy

A clear explanation of what we collect and why.

Sakinah handles personal information carefully because prayer reminders are personal. This page explains what we collect, how we use it, what we share with third-party providers, and the choices you have.

What we collect

We may collect and store the following information:

  • your phone number
  • your name, if you choose to provide it
  • your city or location coordinates
  • your timezone
  • verification and interaction data from WhatsApp
  • delivery and reminder logs needed to run the service reliably

Why we collect it

We use your information to:

  • calculate prayer times for you
  • send prayer reminders through WhatsApp
  • verify that your number has opted in properly
  • avoid duplicates, failures, and unnecessary messages
  • support pause, resume, and future account controls
  • improve reliability, safety, and support

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information. We also do not use this service to profile you for unrelated advertising.

Who we share it with

We share limited data with the service providers needed to run Sakinah. That can include:

  • WhatsApp and Meta, to deliver and manage messages
  • our database and hosting providers, to store and process your account data
  • prayer time and location-related infrastructure where needed to run scheduling accurately

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the service, or to investigate abuse or security issues.

How long we keep data

We keep data for as long as it is reasonably needed to run the service, maintain reliability, prevent abuse, and support legitimate operational or legal needs.

As the product matures, we expect to offer clearer self-serve deletion and retention controls.

Your choices

You can choose not to provide optional fields like your name.

You can also stop using the service, and over time we expect to support more direct controls for pause, resume, update, and deletion flows.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we store, but no internet service can promise perfect security. That means we work to reduce risk, not eliminate it completely.

Children and sensitive situations

Sakinah is designed for personal spiritual support, not for emergency, medical, or legal situations. If you use features related to sensitive life circumstances, we aim to handle them respectfully and with minimal data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service grows. When we do, we will update the date above and aim to explain changes clearly.
